The Natural Resource is a quarterly outlook for drilling and production. It forecasts rigs, wells, footage and spending for the United States and the rest of the world, oil and gas, land and offshore. It also covers the operators who commit the capital, the service companies who earn it, and the demand that drives both.

The report looks forward rather than back. Its forecast starts from the production the market needs and works out how much drilling that will take, instead of extending a trend line. Each edition also checks the previous edition’s calls against what actually happened. The accompanying workbook holds a live forecast model: change an assumption and every figure that depends on it updates.
