Description
Full Spectrum: Semiconductors
How chips are designed, made, packaged, sold and fought over.
An institutional volume on the whole semiconductor industry, worldwide, centered on the chip rather than on any one company. It opens with the industry, then works through the products and the customers who buy them, how a chip gets made from sand to package, the technologies and architectures, and design, from the software tools and instruction sets to the fabless houses. Foundries, wafer fab equipment step by step, building a fab, materials, memory, logic and processors, and analog, power and microcontrollers each get their own chapter, as do packaging and test, export controls and subsidies, the workforce, the cycle, and AI demand and its limits. Then the supply chain, the companies, geography and trade, operations, demand, costs and pricing, innovation, regulation and standards, and the forecast. Every chapter opens on a drawn process flow, and the shaded maps place the industry country by country and state by state.
The volume argues from five conclusions. Memory drives the swings in the industry’s size. Growth comes from price and mix, not from more chips. Value and profit concentrate at a handful of choke points. The constraint has moved from chips to the factories that make them. And policy is redrawing the map while the ordinary half of the industry is left behind. Every company in an exhibit carries its own logo, and every page carries its source and how firmly the evidence holds.
The reference workbook.
Built to be used rather than read. The scope, taxonomy and definitions the volume relies on, every assumption flagged with its basis, the source register page by page, a method tab that explains how each figure was built, a photographs register, and working calculators. Every source in it is free and public.
The forecast model.
World semiconductor revenue through 2035 in constant dollars, built from wafer starts times value per wafer for each product group, with fab equipment carried alongside on the industry’s own billings basis. Conservative, Base and Upside are computed side by side rather than toggled, and a sensitivity tab shows which input moves the answer most. The formulas are live: every driver is an input you can change, and the model recomputes.
You receive: the volume as a PDF and as a PowerPoint, the reference workbook, the forecast model, and a slide by slide guide to the volume.
